William started his racing career when he was
approximately 10 years old by helping to clean up his uncle's dirt car.
Cleaning up after a muddy Saturday night led to working on the car until
his graduation from High School.
Within a year of graduation, William purchased his first dirt
car. He ran a 1954 Ford w/223 six cylinder in the Rookie division.
After two years he made the move to a Modified. Several years later,
William moved to Late Models when he switched teams. After
four years he decided to give Mud Trucks a try. "They were lots of fun
but not my cup of tea" he said. William went back to the Modified
division running in the Concord, NC area. After a few years, he made
the move to Go Karts, Stockers, Limited & Shifter Karts. He collected
two championships in the three years he ran Karts.
Next came the move to asphalt. As a team
they bought a Late Model and began racing at CPR. He ran this car for
the next three seasons until the Late Model class was removed from the CPR
lineup. William took the next year off, sold the car and built the 94
Camaro he drives today. In August, 2006 William's health forced him to
cut that season short. "Thanks to the great doctors, friends, family,
and CPR officials my recovery was sufficient for me to continue my passion
in the 2007 season" he said.
"The 2007 season was good to us. We competed in
each event. Everyone went home healthy with only minor work to do on
the car every week. I look forward to competing in the 2008 season and
hopefully improve our standings in the stats column." |
